Tales from the borderlands rhys arm3/10/2023 Let me know your choices in the comments. Definitely give the game a try if you like any of the other Telltale games, Borderlands fan or not. Rhys might be my favorite Telltale character. It’s fun to watch and to play as the two main characters. Overall, I’d give the game a 8.5/10 so far. They’re usually funny and get you to remember the characters names. The intro cards for each character add to the feeling of the game being show-esque. As soon as the first intro started, I was sold. The awesome music making it feel epic and like you are about to start a really good show or movie. I love how the episode intros are a part of the game and are done in slow motion. My favorite parts though, are the intros, of both the episode and each character. Fiona gets a kind of steampunk feel while Rhys is a little more sleek/futuristic, to go along with the characters perfectly. There are even changes in the display of the conversation choices depending on which character you are playing as, a feature I thought was a great addition especially since there are times where you go back and forth between the two in one scene. There are moments where you get to use the technology in Rhys’s arm to make choices on a computer screen. While playing as Rhys, you have the option to use your ECHO eye and scan the things around you. Everything looks a little more technical than the other games. With Borderlands, the usual Telltale template was changed a bit to fit the feel of the original game. Part of the reason I like the style is the humor. The exaggerations that come out of that are always funny. They’re more like people’s random preferences like choosing a mask or a caravan upgrade.Īnd the story is being told as a he said, she said. Looking at the different decisions listed in the choices page at the end, most of them don’t seem to be things that would influence the game at all. In the two episode that are out so far, there was only one choice where they stressed the importance of making the right decision, and I have no idea how the opposite choice would have changed the game. Unlike in The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, I haven’t struggled too much with which answer to choose. Only problem I have with the story is that I feel like the choices we get to make aren’t having too big on an impact on the game. You’ll get to see completely different versions of what went down, and see why small things in one story happened while in the other. Since the story is being told by two characters, you’ll sometimes replay the same event from the other person’s perspective. The story is interesting and I never really know what is coming next. They team up, and of course, a lot goes wrong. He and Vaughn travel to Pandora to get back at their boss where they meet Fiona and her sister, Sasha. They are the business savvy, rich guys that everyone on Pandora, where Fiona is from, hates. Rhys gets screwed by his new boss on a planet where people are only looking out for themselves. Without giving too much away, you’ve got Rhys and Fiona recounting what (recently, I guess) happened to them to some guy that captured them in the desert. Anyone that has played the game(s), let me know if they’re worth checking out and if there are any links between them and this one aside from the world. I have no clue how they relate to each other, this is apparently the pre-sequel. The StoryĪs I said, if you haven’t played the original Borderlands games, no problem. A bunch of the characters are actually voiced by familiar people, which took me a while to realize. I just kept picturing Kronk in the game saying those things, but I wouldn’t have chosen any other voice for that character, it is perfect. I have to admit, when Vasquez first spoke and the voice of Kronk from The Emperor’s New Groove came out, I had to pause the game because I was laughing so much. I also got to mention that the characters are perfectly voice acted. Even seemingly small characters like Shade, are really great and add a ton of humor to the game. I don’t want to give anything away with him, but I’m just going to say I love him and really want to see more of his character.Įveryone in this game is well developed. And Fiona is pretty awesome and the kind of person I’d want to be in a world like that. And his bromance with Vaughn is one of my favorite things. Rhys is so funny and has his robotic arm and eye which make me wish they were things we could actually have. This time, we are dealing with two, Rhys and Fiona. So Borderlands is another case of multiple playable characters.
